Don’t worry, this is not a movie review. Designfeedr is hardly the place and to be honest, I’m not much of a film critic. If I were I wouldn’t have been able to stomach Tom Cruise as much as I did in Eyes wide shut. So why the Speedracer plug? It’s simple, this movie is a must see for fans of colorful design and illustration.
Looking at the screens below you’d almost think they hired some of the industry top commercial illustrators for their concept art. Some of these really remind me of some pieces of Peter Jaworowski I saw a while ago. Anyone who has a knack for sci-fi backdrops and ultra pop colors should definitely check Speedracer out. Story-wise don’t expect too much and just enjoy the views and the fast action.
If you’re interested in the technical aspect of the movie check out this article cgsociety has on the film(one warning, it does get pretty technical at one point.)
So what do you guys think are must see movies for creatives? Tell us in the comments, it might make a cool article.

Amelie is a very colourful and creative film. Blade Runner always jumps to mind also for some reason. One film I didn’t rate was Scannerly Darkly. Just didnt work for me.
Who framed roger rabbit ha ha cartoon bunnys and bob hoskins. What more do you need!

A scanner darkly didn’t do much for me either. Did you see The fountain? Also worth a watch I’d say.

Nah not seen that. I’ll check out the trailer. I watched the motorcycle diaries today. Very good film and its interesting to learn about the man behind the t shirt (Ernesto Guevara)
However I always do a bit more looking into than just taking the film as gospel and there are many mixed views on the guy. Makes me think about when people put symbolic icons on clothing and wear them without knowing the message it sends.
