I think packaging is the first marketing tool. Much like in the case of when looking for a guy, u want one who displays a good overall image.

Therefore, Packaging is crucial. If 1 product is not as good as another yet the packaging is better. If i don’t know that product, i will choose it over the other one because of the selling aspect of packaging.

The packages above are breathtaking. Think about it. Why do we keep perfume boxes/ bottles after use? Yes, u said it because of the design and the package attractiveness

another company that pays close attention to packaging is apple computer. to unwrap an apple product is a true experience.

I’d really rather have something that can be used for something else later, like some jars which can be used as glasses [for drinks, not eyes] later… and I’m more likely to buy an item like that if I can see a second use for the packaging.

Packaging is a great way to catch peoples attention and get people to hang onto the empty carton to help promote the product even after it has been unpacked / consumed. It does make me wonder at time though just how much of a products value that we pay for goes to the packaging.

I think we’re all guilty of buying stuff we didn’t really need(or have the money for!) simply because the packaging enticed us to. That’s what makes it interesting don’t you think?

Cool post… packaging as always intrigued me… design that tends to end up as landfill. Absolut Vodka as become icon for how they have represented themselves.

I find it interesting how people are fighting back against corporations to make sure they are being friendly to the enviroment and been a kinder cleaner company.

No matter how much marketing or promo you do to get you brand on somebodys shopping list, if it doesn’t look good on the shelf it doesn’t get bought. People pick out shape first and thats why toilet ducks so well ha ha.

I’m guilty of buying things because of the design… like the sam sparro cd and I nearly bought a flask today because of its design.
